Preferred Country Club by expats

Post by Gringo » Wed, 21 Jan 2009 5:11 am

We are planning our relocation to Singapore. Are there any specific Country Clubs which are preferred by expats? We would actually prefer a club where we got the chance to meet other expats and play golf and tennis with them.

Don't Singaporeans have local clubs in their communities? Can expats join and take advantage of the classes and activities? Should I assume that Singaporeans don't want to mix with expats then?

Yep, there are excellent Community Centres in each "neighborhood". My daughter attends ballet at the Clementi CC , karate at the West Coast CC and I've enrolled in the Mandarin for beginners course (second time around) at the West Coast CC. Can't beat the price or the location. My husband also swims at the Clementi pool ($1 entrance fee). Lots of great opportunities in local communities if you'd like to actually meet Singaporeans.

boffenl, I swim at the Kovan complex on Yio Chu Kang & Serangoon Road. For me it's only 50 cents per entry! :P (senior citizen's rates!) I find there is not any more pee in local pools than in condo or country club pools! :o

The real estate guy we were dealing with when we moved said only Singaporeans were allowed in the clubs. I've never even asked my Singaporean friends if that was the case. Oops!
