Post by chixchix » Tue, 20 Jan 2009 7:33 pm

Hii all :) my sis has those dracula type of teeth and she is in her 30's...well she went to SGH and wanted to wear braces.. but was told that she has to be do some surgery on her jaw bone as her teeth "overbite "

that freaked her out  has anyone done this surgery before ? How is it ?

also,,wearing braces for 2 years is a long time...any faster suggestions ?

Thanks in advance !!!!

Perhaps she could get a second opinion?
Two years is not a long time. In fact, if teeth correction is done in a shorter time, the newly aligned teeth may not be 'set' long enough to last a lifetime.

Mine was done for four years although in my teenage years. Now it's still nice and straight. I have friends who did it for a year or so, it's now back to misaligned. So, think long term.

Hey chix chix!

How r u!

I had the same problem as ur sis....wore braces for a good 7 years to prevent myself from going for the jaw surgery.......the surgery was suppose to make sure your upper teeth covers your lower teeth.....since my lower was longer than the upper, they suggested the surgery which i didnt want.

Now that i have taken out my braces for many years......the lower & upper is in line with each other....not the perfect way which the orthodontics prefer but it solved my initial problem of having the "dracula" fangs on one side :)
