Cost of living

Post by Dusty123 » Tue, 13 Jan 2009 2:08 am

Hi,

My wife and I have both been offered positions in Singapore. Our EP's have been approved. We are looking at arriving in the middle of March.

We will have a combined monthly basic salary of S7500. We are looking at renting a condo for about S2500-S3000. Will S4500 left over be enough for living expenses etc?

Any advice on utility costs, food(We dont eat much western food), transport via Mrt and buses. Any other advice will be helpful with regards to cost of living.

I will receive commission on top of my salary but this should take about 3 months to kick in so a fairly controlled budget is something I am looking at.

Any advice please?

your budget for a condo is pretty much spot on as the rental market is coming down. overall, you should be OK.

you didnt mention if you got kids or mortgage to pay back in your home country, so i guessed the full S$4500 will be all yours and the missus. utility, broadband, mobile, food should be about S$1000 per month (roughly, not actual!). of course all depends how you want to splash out.

No mortgage or children. S4500 would be ours. Would like to experience Singapore and travel a little if possible.
