dinner buddies wanted, from street food to fine dining

Post by lifetraveler » Sat, 10 Jan 2009 2:21 pm

I am on a prolonged business trip in Singapore. Won't be able to return to US for a while. Tired of having dinner by myself. Desperately need dinner buddies. On the food selection, I am very open. Anyone?

Hi, TennoHekka, thanks for the PM. sorry, can not PM back to you. still a rookie here.

I like the idea of "cheap but distinctly local/fun/spicy cuisines on this island". And you bet I am "adventurous" on food as a Chinese male and food enthusiast.

So, what do you say. I don't have any dinner plan tonight, shall we start the adventure now?

Anyone else?

Since you mentioned you are very open, let me test you by mentioning Vegetarian (is it cruel :) ?)

A place called Nature Vegetarian Delights, 356 Hougang Avenue 7
#01-803.

propose a time and day

Hi, Renewed,

I think you should renew the inventory of mercy in your heart.

That is the forbidden zone of my food exploration. But, whata heck, I will give it a shot.

Tonight is as good as any night. 8:30pm will be a good time for me. If you are ok, this adventure is officially on. otherwise, please propose a counter-plan.

pnxjamie,

I think this might be a good practice. :-) Anyone who said "Sorry, I can not make it this time. but please count me in next time", should propose a new eating place worth visiting ( you don't have to commit showing up next time at the place you proposed, but you'd better recommend it with good reason). Then hopefully, a target list can be built up and conquered one by one. Will this work?

Hi

Life traveller, consider eating Vegetarian one of your wild adventure, believe me it is much more than a salad, certainly :)

Here is the URl.
http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/ ... s_hougang/

So, we have to take the North-East line to Hougang MRT, from there we could (I suppose) walk to the eating place. So, shall we meet at 7.00 PM at the MRT (near the ticket counter, the glass door where people sit and watch), The eating place closes at 9.30 PM.

I think forming a group will work, once we get enough people and form a emailing list. We could also post in this forum where we are heading to...

Perfect. Will see you there. I will bring a burger with me. I will PM you my cell number. My phone reception sucks, though.

Hi,

Do you mind adding me to your mailing list?

I am open to almost any kind of food except horse, snake, dolphin, frog, etc. Hope I qualify for the group :) .

Hi, fujiyama,

You took half of my regular nutrition resource off my menu.

Honestly, there is no any group. Just a desperate and lonely lifetraveler looking for dinner buddies.

However, tonight is a humble start, and also a giant step for me. "Renewed" and I had a vegetarian dinner!! Just realized another possibility of life. Thanks a lot, "Renewed".

Actually, my ideal scene is more random and spontaneous. when after work and starving, call several numbers, or email/MSN / text message, whatever, see who on this earth are starving also at that moment. Pick one place from the conquer target list, then go.

How can we make that work?
