refurbished imacs

Post by dpankar » Sat, 10 Jan 2009 11:26 am

Hi,

My imac 17" 2 ghz recently met with an accident and got its lcd damaged. Apple care gave me an estimate of $1200. My queries are:

1. Where can I sell my imac?
2. Does it make sense to buy a refurbished imac from the apple store?
3. Is there some place I can buy a new imac cheaper than the apple stores at wheeklock and funyan?

Thanks.

you're best off scanning ebay singapore and the market place section of VR zone singapore or hardware zone singapore

There's this 20 incher for the same as your repair
http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/marketpl ... 2&id=32962

There a lot of tech heads over there so may be able to help

Good luck

My advice for what it's worth: don't buy a refurbished mac unless there is some pressing reason to have one. The reason being is, out of warranty they are really expensive to get fixed should you get a serious hardware failure as it seems you have already found out. :(

For what some repairs can cost you can buy a brand new windows-based laptop. :o

Hi,

thanks for all the advice. I bought the new 2.4 ghz 20" imac after selling my poor old damaged piece. Though even the stores @ Sim Lim were selling at the same apple store prices I got a good deal at one place - RAM upgrade from 1 gig to 4 gigs plus a lot accessories.

Cheers,
