What is a good baby mattress to buy?

Post by sram » Wed, 07 Jan 2009 6:38 pm

Hello,

We are expecting our first child in March and are looking to buy a baby mattress. Should i be buying a latex, foam or spring mattress? What is a good brand to buy? I have been doing some reading on the internet and visiting some stores but am not sure which is a good / safe mattress to buy. Obviously,i would not want something that would keep the baby too warm, given the weather here. Nothing too expensive either - could spend upto $200 - 300 i think.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks!!

Just get a reputable maker, we got a sprung one and a latex safety one with holes, though the holes seem like a gimmick. Anyway the baby didnt seem to mind where she slept even a towel on the floor worked.

You have not said whats it for baby cot, traveling, mosses basket etc. In the end the most useful sleep item we bought was one of those folding travel beds/matress looks like a small brief case when not in use, baby loved it as she always slept in the same bed even if we are on a plane, train, hotel etc.
