What type of bad stories have you heard? I am also in search of a good school and have heard over and over again that Tanglin Trust, United World College and Canadian International are all very good for different reasons. Let me know what you discover.

Not sure what its worth, but we've had our two (4 and 6) at ISS at the Paterson rd campus, and are super happy about that. Kids love it too .. might want to check that out... that campus is smaller, and most people know everyone... kind of thing, which was kind one thing that sold us to that school. Some of the schools are just too big and kind of impersonal ..

Can you tell me if you went to see the Canadian School and United World College and what you thought? Thank you.

Hi there,

Rosemount Kindergarten is an wonderful International School. In my personal experience :) My son is a student there and I will soon be enrolling my other little one.

Here are a few reasons why I even bothered to write this post :D :
They have a great curriculum.
They keep the class numbers down.
They place has a homely family vibe.
They don't charge surprise fees that some international school spring on you.

That said, different schools offer different things, I suppose you just have to decide what features are most important to you, then go with the one that gets all the ticks in the right boxes.

Good luck with your search.

hi...you could also try The Thinking Box....my kids have been there for 18 months so far and I am very pleased with them - same traits as Rosemount except location is better for me and no teacher turnover - very good teaching team there.

they are not an International School though...

I am a UWC East mum and we are very happy with the school. I don't have experience first hand of the other schools but there are a few ex Canadian School students now at UWC in my daughter's class and their parents were not happy at the previous school for a variety of reasons.

If you would like specific info about UWC please feel free to PM me.

Good luck :)

Hi Vealshank,
I am so glad for your offer on the UWC info. My son is currently in K2 and looking to move him to UWC for P1 or P2. How old is your daughter, how is the teacher & what are the activities in class? My son is not getting enough art & craft activities (he missed it alot as he used to had it everyday back home and I found that boost his creativity). Would appreciate your feedback on the actual daily learning in UWC. Thanks.

Hi,
My daughter is in year 2 and is at the east campus. They will move to Tampines in August where the facilities will be a lot better than what they are at AMK. The drama and art departments are really incredible.

As it is a PYP program at UWC they do what is called a "Unit of Enquiry" each term. This subject or theme runs through everything they do - from writing, art, music, drama etc so even while they are doing the more creative stuff, they are hopefully still learning about their key theme.

I am very happy with the mix of academic vs more creative learning. I know that this isn't for everyone though and some people think they are not doing enough academic work.

There is a lot of parent involvement stuff as well which some people love and others not so much. For example, last week the kids did a "Poetry cafe" in their class rooms and read us poetry that they had written. There is also a lot of student led learning activities that involve parents.

Please PM me if you want anything more specific.

Good luck with your choices :)
