i want to buy a new laptop. recommendations please

my budget is around 1700 or so, preferably durable [ alu casing or smt]
i'm very much of a gamer, hopefully i can get a decent graphics card and processor /ram ^^| and perhaps tell me where to buy it..

how does harvey norman sound?

you need to get out more and get yourself to sim lim square. there are loads of computer shops there that will wet your appetite.

sorry cant recommend a single laptop you are looking for as there are too many. just about all new laptops are equally good.

I think you should provide more information about why you need the NB.
Your budget is quite enough for many laptop.
But I think if you only use it for going online, you could consider EEEPC.
That kind of Netbooks is cheaper and convenient.
If your requirement is for professional job, my personal favor is Thinkpad series.
Really stable and reliable.

OP you need to tell us what kind of games you play. If you wanna play FPS well in that laptop, afraid you'd need more than 1700....
