To be quite honest, the "best" sat nav is, IMO the one YOU get on best with. Garmin seems to be highly rated in Singapore, I like Tom Tom since it works well in Europe.

I have a Tom Tom and bought a Singapore map for it - works OK. So ..... Hactar,
I'm used to using TomTom, but it appears that they're not available in Singapore.
- if you have a Tom Tom, they do sell maps!

However, on a recent trip to Malaysia, a Garmin sat nav found us a great little restaurant in a tiny little town using the POI feature!

Excellent, I bought my Tom Tom from the UK, I scanned their site briefly and couldn’t see a Singapore map… Is it an official Tom Tom map, or are you able to point me elsewhere to where I would find them?

Thanks

Andy.

http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/sel ... D=31&M=217

That should link to the Singapore map on the tomtom site. I see they also do a singapore and malaysia map which is probably more useful. Quite pricey at £50 though .......

I'm not aware of any "free" maps for tomtom though. However, I'm always a bit reluctant to download anything dodgy from the internet in case I end up with a load of bugs which will then eat their way through anything precious on my comp!

I rented a Garmin Nuvi 255w for my road trip to France in June. Loved it so much I told the renter I wanted to keep it for good. Now I use it even in Singapore, a place I know so well. And everyday I learn new shortcuts to get from one place to another!
