P45 Motherboard

Post by DimWit Kid » Thu, 18 Dec 2008 10:53 pm

I know it's a longshot posting here - but just in case - anybody can help me choosing motherboard for my coming DIY rig?
At this moment I'm thinking Asus P5Q3 or Gigabyte EP45DQ6....

Thanks for any reply! :)

Thanks durain. I'd actually agree with that - I used P5LD2 before.
But I think I'll now go for X58 instead .... toys toys toys... for christmas :D

If building a new PC, not sure if you want the latest and greatest, but may want to make sure your motherboard will be ok with the new Core i7 chip? I don't think the EP45 copes with it.

Note: I'm not a real techy, so only the opinion of a dabbler! :)

Thanks for the comment. In fact you hit the nail on the head. I decided to get X48 motherboard (Eclipse) with an i7. And P45 (which is socket 775) is indeed not compatible with i7 (socket 1xxx).
