Hey people! I'm trying to make a big decision here as to what profession to choose in SG. Basically, I have decided to leave my Nursing career here for something more interesting and fitting for me in SG. I don't mind taking the necessary steps to land the perfect prospective job, whether it means I have to go back to school for a degree or get certified.
By the way, I'm a 29 yr old male US citizen, New York resident, with a Nursing degree and 1 yr experience; also with over 5 yrs experience in Retail/Sales. I'm interested in several areas including Engineering, Marketing, Heath&Fitness/Therapy, Consumer Services, Business, Hospitality and Travel. In terms of remuneration, the prime job for me doesn't have to be high-paying, it just has to suffice for economical living expenditures (rent, food, transportation, clothing, utilities..weekend outings) and of course for rainy days (savings account) and future business plans. Speaking of money, I'm able to make at least 70K/yr with my Nursing job here, but I feel Nursing is just not for me, cost of living and taxes here are too high (~30%), and I really want to work in a different industry in SG. I've yet to discover the true beauty of Singapore, but I already know I'm going to love living there. I'm visiting next month to look for job prospects and of course to party Singaporean style (but that's another discussion on its own). I hope my abbreviated profile will be sufficient to serve as keywords for my query.
I'm cognizant of the global market crisis, but I still believe there are proliferating stable jobs out there. Suppose you guys were in my quagmire, I would like to know what job(s) you are inclined to choose, just based on your subjective preferences. And please include your rationale, fresh grad salary(if possible), personal reasons, etc.
I am highly appreciative of everyone's views, comments, depositions regarding my endeavor. I thank you all for your precious time and kindness. GOOD DAY!
