This is an excellent idea, however it would be better for the School to contact SMU here...and arrange some kind of regular exchange for students. Here in Singapore, the Companies pay to hire the students for their project, the company gets a substantial discount up to 90% i believe in Singapore...
It is well worth a company sponsoring this kind of project, if it's not too costly, and the person or team are really switched on, I suspect you may be doing an export appraisal of the Company and the products, maybe to target a European Country, desk research if it's a 4 month stint.
It's a very good experience, I did mine on Shrink wrapping machines, back in 89 in Denmark, good luck with it!
PS: Hopefully some one with a business may take you up on it.
In fact, I may look into it myself if the 90% discount is still available, I would rather have Europeans, that understand the researching technique and data bases in Europe, are you possibly on European grants for the internship period overseas?
