Orchard Rd Christmas Advertisements

Post by ozchick » Sun, 07 Dec 2008 10:12 am

How tacky are the large heart-shaped Christmas balloons along much of Orchard Rd where each one has the word Hyundai plastered in huge letters all over it ?!
Ooh this is a sad state of affairs when Singapore Chamber of commerce can't afford to be a little bit festive without the dreaded sponsorship/advertisements. :-|

I guess I didn't notice...too busy squeezing in as much shopping as possible in a day! Each year it's usually a different sponsor. So I guess its their way of letting the public know who footed the bill this year.

I refuse to even go near Orchard Road during this period so thanks for the update! And I'd much rather Hyundai pay for the decorations than my tax money, so go Hyundai! :)

Oh, they have decorations up? How did they look last year? Don't guess I've looked for 3 or 4 years now. The proliferation of underpasses allow me to never step foot on the street now.

I can tolerate the decorations and the tacky advertisements, but the 100 decibel Christmas music everywhere gets on my last nerve..

Glad to know this stuff annoys other people, I thought I was the only grinch in Singapore. :)

I think I laid claim to that a couple of years ago (around 20 I think). :( Especially once you start receiving "recycled presents". That really does it for me. I generally donate them to the sharity boxes rather than take a chance of giving it back to the fool who recycled it two years earlier. But then again, it would serve them right. I even received a recycled a corporate gift one year! Complete with the company name still on it. Even the grinch that I am I could never stoop that low for the life of me.

Hah, bah humbug to all of you! :P

I love the decorations here, not as nice this year as last, but still pretty stunning, they have ads on them? Never noticed... :D I love Orchard Road at this time of the year, walked down in the other night just for fun.

Agree. The deco is not fantastic. I prefered the deco 10 years ago.
