If budget's not a problem you can try 3D cakes - www.cherylshuen.com

Other cake shops are :

www.pgcake.com
www.swensens.com.sg/order.html

Why don't you get an ice cream cake from Ben & Jerry's?

Singapore, sadly doesn't have any stellar bakeries. The Regent is pretty good, but nothing noteworthy. All the 'mall' bakeries feature ersatz shortening frosting and bland flavorless sponge cake. Not worth the calories.

http://www.smilingorchid.com/ does cartoon themed birthday cakes for kids, although i don't think a one-year old would really appreciate it that much. they do full cream frosting, too.[/url]

wow - cheryl shuen cakes are gorgeous! if I'm rich by the time my baby turns 1, that's what I'm going for.

Otherwise, I'll have to think up some special occasion to use one of her cakes!

I think when the baby is just turning 1, the cake is still more for the benefit of the party guests than the baby. ;)

I ordered Cheryl Shuen cupcakes for my baby shower and they were excellent!

She was very helpful and friendly as well for a last minute order. Collection is at her place at West Coast. I can send pics to whoever is interested :D

Unfortunately i got a totally different experience. Travelled from east to west. Made to wait 2 solid hours outsid her closed shop from 10am for an appt confirmed by her on wedding cake design consultation that obviously didn't came through in the end. Called her and phone was unreachable.

Finally got through her line after we left, she said she forgot the appointment as it was all kept in her phone which was flat out and she didnt expect us to wait 2hrs!!?.. what can i say but disappointment. She does little on damage recovery to gain back our assurance but taking it as a matter of fact that she didnt know we would wait 2hrs and proceed to arrange for another appt on later day. We stress the impt of time to us on wkend for wedding preparation hoping that she will help appease our disappointment and frustration for time loss well, she said her time is impt as well too.

Apparently, she is professional in her cake making but not so professional in managing customer service. Would advice anyone against trying unless you are crazy about her work and are prepare to suck up any lose/non-negotiable situation that comes along if it happens. Otherwise, look elsewhere. Her time is probably more precious than yours as it seems she is always busy (even forgetting clients appt) and never ran out of orders....

Why don't you just bake your own cake? A homemade cake is filled with more love.

Try 'the patissier', they can make very fancy and extremely yummy cakes.

I've ordered my son's birthday cakes from them for 1st & 2nd bday. They make great 3d cakes too. Must order 2 weeks in advance if I'm not mistaken and you can have it customized too if you dont like anything from their cataloque. They are pricey compared to other places but the cake quality is very high. I've been to numerous bday parties and tried cakes from the other places, they dont come even half as good.

Sweet secrets makes good cakes too but in 2d mostly and are famous for picture cakes.
