Rechargeable batteries are the exception, they need to go in your carryon.
Here is the one I bought, it’s fairly compact and was less than $5… has successfully killed a lot of unwanted plant growth around my and my in-laws’ place.

We've got weeds growing in the cracks of the brick outside. We pluck and pluck but they come back. Sometimes they show up in the grout though I have no explanation for that.

Exactly! This stuff I bought kills the root, so they don’t come back.

I'll find the source of the holes where the ants come and take blue tac to seal off the holes and they usually disappear after.

Agree… but usually they don’t sprout up in the same location that was treated. The chemical seems to keep the area inhospitable to new growth - at least so far (over a year and counting). Chemicals in products like this from the US tend to be highly potent. This one even says it’s water resistant after so many minutes.

That can work, sometimes… if the ants don’t find or make a new hole, and if that’s the only nest.
But I have to say, nothing I’ve used so far beats Terro ant bait - whatever ants you’ve got (known or unknown), they will eventually take the bait and share it with all the others… ensuring their demise.

That’s a clever approach! Blue tack works well for temporarily sealing the holes. If you find that the ants keep coming back, you might also want to consider spraying some natural repellents like vinegar or essential oils around the area to deter them further. Sometimes sealing the holes alone might not be enough if they’re nesting nearby. Hope it helps!

Merely deterring pests is like alleviating symptoms without curing the patient.
Getting pests to take poison back to their nest and share it with others stops the problem at the root. The active ingredient in Terro is borax… you can make your own bait using a 3:1 mixture of sugar to borax. I believe that is the best solution anywhere at any cost, but the pest control experts on this forum can correct me if I’m wrong.

And I tried COMBAT which can be bought in Fairprice. Lifesaver as the house has been infested by ants everywhere.
