architect/interior designer salary in singapore

Post by s1slax » Mon, 24 Nov 2008 7:01 am

Hi,

I'm an architectural lighting designer - 4.5 years experience in London, and just got offerred a position with S$ 6000/month salary.

Please can you let me know if this is average/below average/above average salary in Singapore?

I think lighting designer is not a very 'common' profession there, so if you could help with comparison to architect/interior designers salary, it would be great.

Thanks in advance :)

Sis

The following taken from the Ministry of Manpower's Wage Search Facility on their website.
Wage Search

Median monthly gross wage includes all remuneration received by an employee before deductions of the employee's CPF contributions and personal income tax. It includes overtime payments, commissions, allowances (e.g. shift, food, housing and transport) and other regular cash payments; but excludes employer's CPF contributions, bonuses, other lump sum payments and payments-in-kind Wage Search

Occupation:

S/No. Position Wage
1 INTERIOR DESIGNER 3,175
1 BUILDING ARCHITECT 4,600
Having given you that information, this is only a median salary. Locals are somewhere around there, Regionals are a bit below and Western examples somewhat higher providing that they have a decent portfolio.

These figures are based on the existing data and not reflective of the current financial turmoil, downsizing and wage cuts.
