Selling Software Online

Post by shawnlee » Thu, 20 Nov 2008 9:11 am

I would like to know the procedure involved in selling software online. Software developed and sold by the company. Customers will be all around the world. Can anybody tell the legal formalities involved in selling the software online. For each copy sold is the GST applicable. Do I have to acquire any special licenses for selling software.

Hi,
under Singapore Law, when a someone wants to earn profit continuously, he or she will need to register their business under their respective association or ACRA. LLP, Business firm, Private local company(PTE LTD) etc, be it online business or otherwise.

Additionally, I believe Your business will be governed by IDA and hence require a license. (I do not know what is your software all about.)

For Us to help You, You might wanna reveal the general quantity ( a few pcs per transaction or thousands?) because there's different type of export schemes.

Generally, You might need to register with Singapore custom too.

You might wanna explore iesingapore.gov.sg to learn more. =)

Hope all these basic information helps =)
