Hi! Or should I say hey?

Great to hear from a fellow Atlantan! I went to school up north but if you live in Atlanta at some point you have to choose between Tech or UGA. lol! Just writing about it make me want a slaw dawg from the Varsity...

My wife is from Philly but tolerates me listening to the Regular Guys podcast every morning... She lived in Atlanta, but not long enough to be a transplant.

We should catch up sometime for coffee, we live near Orchard on Cairnhill.

Aloha laocgirl,

My bf and I moved to Singapore from Oahu earlier this year. I'm Singaporean but spent the last 6 years in Hawaii. He's haole-happa from the mainland who also spent a lot of time in Hawaii.

I graduated from HPU and we're in your age group. We'll be happy to meet you.

Not much Hawaiian-related activity happening.

I believe that the Hawaii-born wife of a well known local medical doctor organised a luau sometime in the 90's, but I haven't seen anything happening since.

Just getting arond to finishing up my last bag of poi.
Good thing am going home end of next week. :)
Need to stock up again.
Ran out of laulau and kalua long ago.

Actually, I'm the one from Hawaii. :)

What I really miss is the real Hawaiian food -- na'au luau, opihi, kulolo, poke, poi, etc.

Am away on "home leave" for a couple of weeks, but at least I'll be bringing back some frozen kalua, laulau's and poi.
Unfortunately, it won't last very long. :(

Another Yank Siting

Postby ld_runner » Thu, 25 Dec 2008 1:22 pm

Greetings All,
Just another Yank here... I arrived four weeks ago from Virginia (although originally frmo North Jersey). I only joined this forum yesterday morning and already thanks to this site I met a handful of very cool expats (despite being non-American) and we had a great time people watching at Clark Quay celebrating Christams Eve like it was the warm up actr for New Years. (Can't say I've ever hear of a "countdown" for the birth of baby Jesus.)
We started at Highlanders where we perched ourselves there for a good 2-1/2 hours before stumbling past Attica and deciding "no way". We then made our way down to Boat Quay. We closed "Jazz-at Southbridge" and then Bar Bar-ra-cuda's and finally wnet for "breakfast" at 3AM. During the course of the evening we had anywhere from 2 to 12 people float through our entourage. I didn't get back to my place till after 4AM. I can't speak for everyone but we ate too much, drank to much... too much(uh oh, the beings of a DMB song I think.)
Anyways, I'm here for two more months and hoping to get permanently relocated here. What's not to like about Singapore. Hoping to hear from the rest of you.
J.A.N. Just Another Noobie. Hoping to make some friends and branch out from the regular 9 to 5 crowd at work. Cheers!

Postby jillardy » Fri, 03 Jul 2009 11:21 am

Dear All,

Also new to Singapore from Hawaii. Although I have been here countless times and I have Asian roots. I still long to talk to some people from the US, particularly Hawaii. I graduated from UH.

Hope to touch base with some of you. My email is jillem (at) gmail (dot) com.

See you all!
