Advice for a foreign law student

Post by tulash » Thu, 20 Nov 2008 1:19 am

Hi,

My husband and i will be moving to singapore late jan/early feb next year as he has been transferred by his company to the singapore office. I will probably be on the dependant pass.

I am currently studying law through the University of South Africa via correspondence and i graduate with an LLB Oct/Nov 2009. I am looking for an internship(part-time) in an international law firm. I am 27, also worked as a flight attendant for a period of 4years whilst doing my degree.

My questions are: How difficult is it to get an internship in an international law firm with a foreign LLB, without any legal background? My plan is to initially work part-time and then go full-time once i graduate. Any ideas/advice on how to best get my foot in the door?

I do know some of the legal firms here do take in Interns but you would have to approach them probably on a one to one basis. There is some additional links on internships in my links page below as well.
