affordable accommodation between city and science park

Post by sezsarah » Thu, 20 Nov 2008 1:13 am

:???: I am very overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information on accommodation in Singapore! Here's the deal: I am a student, studying in Bristol, UK at the moment. Will be moving to Singapore for half a year this coming June (2009) to work for a company located in the Science Park in the western part of Singapore... and I need a simple room. Now it seems to me, most websites are directed at coorporates, aka, a lot of apartments, condominiums and the like and not much in terms of single rooms.
Can anyone help me???????? Otherwise I see myself sharing a 6-bed dorm with backpackers once again... just this time I'll be working... Thank you!

you still got 7 months!!! what you see now might not be there anymore! building in singapore goes up and down like playing cards.

still, for a single room, look in classified, and website such as gumtree and craiglist, etc.

Could you specify what you mean by affordable? Or you want us to guess how big your salary is going to be?

Anyway, the previous poster is correct, Singapores markets are up for a big correction, soon, hopefully early next year.

There is also a webpage called . which might be what you are looking for.

good news

Cheers guys, for that information! I'm really glad that my thread has received quite a few replies- thank u. I'll look into all of those options. Right now, though, the company's dealt me a blow: they'll have to apply for a visa (obvioulsy) but that'll have to wait till March or April... THEN I get to know for certain about that placement.. Any ideas how likely or unlikely Singapore visas are handed out? (just another question on the by :-) )

I know one university student who lives in student accomodation in one institution in Bukit Timah area (he was an alumni of the institution btw). I heard a good accomodation w/ very reasonable cost.
