We need your expert advice on where to live in SG. Will be coming in mid '09. Lived in Guanzhou, China 10 years ago with 3 kids. This time just a 14 year old girl who will attend SAS. Hubby will be traveling a lot. Considering bring our small dog with us. With that said, what districts would you recommend we look at. We'll have an adequate package to support at least a 3 bedroom place. Thank you for your comments.

If your daughter will be staying after school a lot -- I'd look at the activity bus routes from SAS and concentrate your searches that way. It's a godsend if they can walk home from the bus stop.

excellent sound advice, thank you. I do expect my daugther to stay afterschool a lot, she's very social and athletic. I'm all for her being independent!

My child is also studying at SAS while I work at Newton area. We used to live in River Valley area (SAS school bus pick-up time was 6:45AM - in Singapore at this timing is still really really dark outside) but we now live in Bukit Timah area (school bus pick up at around 7:10AM & also pretty close to my office) and thus better for us overall. Thus you might consider place along Bukit Timah to Newton area especially if your daughter plans to take school bus to SAS.
Another consideration might be Woodlands area (where SAS is located) which we can find some good landed houses at reasonable rent. Though it will be far from the city - especially if your hubby works in the city area. I have a number of friends who live in Woodlands as their kids are in SAS - school bus pick up for those who live in nearby
condo will be around 7:20AM.

Another place is the west coast, those condos near the west coast park is great and the park is less crowded than east coast park.
