Pediatrician Recommendations Please

Post by Claire30 » Tue, 18 Nov 2008 7:30 pm

Hi,

I have recently moved here about a month ago and am in need of a good pediatrician for my 2 year old toddler and 5 month old baby. I went to see Dr. Belinda Murugasu-Koh as all of my husbands colleagues have seen her for their children. I understand she is very popular with the expat community. However I didn't really get a good vibe from her, I felt she was hurrying me and not giving me her full attention when I brought my sick toddler in to see her. On top of that, we waited about 2 hours for her, which I don't mind the wait, but when I get seen I would like some attention to be paid to my questions and concerns. Overall, my experience with her was not the best and I would like to find someone else who is just as qualified but with a bit more personality as well as empathy for a parent who is worried about her child. Can anyone please help.

Thanks so much!

Claire

hi claire - you can try dr. mark loh at international medical clinic (http://www.imc-healthcare.com) in camden medical center. he's quite busy - but they always seem to fit you in if it's an emergency.
he's not overly personal or chatty - but very thorough. we've had one serious illness that required a trip to the emergency room and he met us there and another really bad viral illness where he called to check up the next day. the whole family goes to this medical center and we've been really pleased.

I always go to the children's clinic at NUH. The doctors are fantastic and they partner with another doctor so you can always see someone who knows you on the day you want. As with all paeds you may have a wait but at least lots of things to play on to pass the time. Finally as my child is an asthmatic if they need to be admitted to hospital your paediatrician is on hand with all records.

I can highly recommend Dr. Kenny Ee Teong Tai at the Paragon 290 Orchard Road. He is a really good doctor, kind and patient. He was there during my delivery and treated my daughter as long as we stayed in Singapore.

I would highly recommend Dr. Siva at Kinder Clinic, Paragon. He's very popular with expats but never hurries you. If you dont take an appointment, expect atleast an hour long wait.

Hi Claire,
Try Dr June Lou at Ovspring Medical Clinic, they've moved from Guthrie House to Turf City. I like that I don't usually have to wait so long.
