need help in cost of living in singapore - please
Hello All,
I am a new member to this group and I am planning to move into
Singapore in a month or so. I got an offer from a company for the
position of a software engineer for which I am offered the following
as part of my salary. Would any of you please tell me if this is a
good offer to move into Singapore
Accomodation (borne by the company) - 500 SGD
Tranportation (borne by the company) - 100 SGD
Monthly Allowance (for food mainly) - 600 SGD
Salary In hand - 834 SGD
-----------
Total 2034 SGD (monthly salary)
-----------
Out of this, accomodation and transportation will not be given in hand
though it is shown as a component of my salary. Will some one please
tell me if this is a good offer to move in or can I ask for more.
Since accomodation and transportation is provided by them, I would like
to know how much would it take for a bachelor to spend on food expenses
If I eat outside all the time.
I will be only given the monthly allowance and salary inhand which is 600+834=1434 SGD. I was told that I could even do a lot of saving out of the other components (accomodation/transportation). I was told that shared accomodation is also available for a much lesser price like 200-300 SGD per calendar month, Is this true ?
I have about 3 years of IT experience, is this a good package or is it
too low to move in. I have been given time to revert back and quote my
expected salary in a day or two. I am really willing to take up this opportunity since it offers me to diversify my skill over the next two years.
I am a bachelor and I dont hang out much, I dont smoke, no drinks, no clubbing etc., I would like to subscribe to unlimited internet and a prepaid cellphone. I thought of quoting about 2750 SGD, any advice will be highly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
Ajju

Not a chance, a room in a shared HDB are on average $600 per month. Check out the classifieds and you'll get a good idea of rental cost.merightthere wrote: I was told that shared accomodation is also available for a much lesser price like 200-300 SGD per calendar month, Is this true ?

there is a search function on the upper left had side of this page just under the link to your profile. Click on that and enter the relevant info needed. You would be surprised at how much info a little self-help will produce. If after that you need answers to a specific question, by all means ask.
