Buying second hand laptops

Post by drakerel » Sun, 16 Nov 2008 11:49 pm

Does anyone know where to get a second hand laptop which is still in good condition and has to be cheap because my parents will be getting one for me and do not want it to be too expensive probably below $1000. Can anyone also recommend which laptops are good for doing school work and gaming?

Have a good look at buying a new one, at that price there are some good bargains around.

gaming on a lap top is a no go.unless of course it's chess. They just dont have the power to deliver high end graohics.

But when it comes to choice get the mos t powerful processor you can afford with the most ram

Good luck

You are also better off, getting a second hand, very expensive one, 3 years old, than a new cheap one...I have 3 at the moment, and the best one is my wifes old HP which was over 65000TWD at the time over 3000 sing. it still works fine, but needs reformatting every now and then. I guess they are quite cheap at 4 years old.
I wouldn't recommend a celeron!

I'd suggest u to buy new one, now they're getting cheaper.
Go for SITEX nx week
not to mention the warranty (get at least 2 yr one, the longer the better)
mind you it's v expensive to repair a faulty lappy
Still rmb my laptop 1 yr ago bought at 3K+ now 1.3K
A lot of choices for laptop with decent graphic card for 1.5k
Buy core2Duo, possibly 8xxx or 9xxx (at least 7xxx) series with dedicated graphic card nvidia 8600 or 9500 and above
or else can try ur luck search at hardwarezone forum.

Some suggestions:
XPS M1530* T8100-2.10GHz 15.4" WCSV 3.00GB 320GB DVD SuperMulti DL, BT, WebCam 10/100 VHP nVidia GeForce 8600M $1,899
(maybe even cheaper at SITEX)

i wouldnt recommend an acer
