One World International School

Post by mules » Mon, 10 Nov 2008 12:25 am

Can anyone tell me about their personal experience, with this school - -particularly the early childhood programme?

Am considering enrolling a 3 year old. Other options I am comparing to in roughly the same location are whitelodge, MMI tampines, potential chatsworth.

many thanks

One World is a brand new school. They opened in Sept but they only have a handful of kids so getting feedback is going to be tough.
I visited the school and like the feel of it (small school but not quaint). My daughter will start Year 1 in Jan.

Hi my daughter also starts Year 1 in Jan!

OP: I can only suggest you tour the schools because as the previous poster says - it's a brand new school!

Hi,

We just moved from New York and need help with schools for my 4 year daughter (July 2004 born). We looked at the following:

1) Eton House Broadrick Road
2) Chatsworth Intl East Campus - waiting list
3) Spoke to One world over the phone
4) OFS
5) SAS

I would ideally like a IB school that has a good number of other expat children. We also would like to live on the East Coast, although we would consider any other place as well.

Any help is appreciated.

Where are you going to live on the east coast? We live upper east coast and it made EH and Chatsworth too far away. a 30 - 40 minute ride on a bus is too long for a 4 year old in my opinion. If you want to go to SAS you probably would want to live in Woodlands.

I would also tour the schools. We were at EH which is a very nice little school but to far to travel for my kids. The teachers and kids at all the schools are no doubt very nice, as the price goes up - the facilities will get better.

One World is offering free bus service at the moment. The bus fees can add up to 2k a year per child so factor that in when you are looking at total costs.

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. We will be living along Tanjong Rhu road, so I think EH and Chatsworth would be the closest. I agree about living close to the school in order to reduce the commute as 4-5 year olds are too little. Most schools do not have any vacancies to start asap. So just wondering if you have your child going to another school until Jan 2009. I am looking for some enrichment classes or half day preschool to send my child to until she can start school in Jan. Do you know of any preschools along the east coast that would be willing to take a child fo a month until the Dec vacations?

I think Eton House has one called Mountbatton Road that is only pre-school - kids from there will go onto EH Broadrick Road when they reach primary - there website will have the details. A good friend has her 4 year old there and is very happy. There is also a preschool called Rosemount which is at Siglap you could try. Also the canadian school now has a new campus on the east coast, you could google them. Also Avondale Grammar may have vacancies and is kinda close to you and looks like a nice school.

I am thinking...well actually almost convinced to send my daughter to Early Childhood 1 on Jan 2011. I have visited the school and quite impressed with the facilities. They will do some renovation works this Dec 2010 according to the teacher.

I hope to get more feedbacks from the parents.

PS: I have visited Rosemount Kindergarten but I was not impressed with the location and environment. I want something that has a real school environment.
Regards,
Fiona
