Ob/gyn recommendation - for amniocentesis

Post by elibri » Fri, 07 Nov 2008 4:40 pm

Hi everyone

I need to have an amniocentesis done in a few weeks and am very nervous about the procedure as you can imagine! I'm trying to find the best/ most highly recommended OB to do it, as I've heard it is very important to have someone who is very experienced in the procedure. But I'm finding it difficult to find this information as I'm new to Singapore and don't have any contacts in the field.

Just wondering if anyone has had an amnio done here (or know of anyone that has) and who did it. Most appreciate your recommendations.

Thank you.

hi there

None of my business really but wondering why you are getting an amnio done. Have you had the triple test (ie scan, maternal serum and nucal measurement) and they advised an amnio. Personally in terms of risk and info many amnios are no longer required. For more information and contacts in singapore look here

(you may ahve to contact them)

Thanks for your reply Megan. I've had the prenatal screening test and they've advised I have an amnio. Believe me would not in a million years be opting to have this!

If anyone has any recommendations I'd be most appreciative. Or if you know of anyone who's had it done here.

thanks.
