Chinese speaking maid

Post by carolynW » Mon, 03 Nov 2008 6:48 pm

I have looked at the threads on this, wondering if there is other info out there. I know China for domestic maids is not a "source country" tho, it may be a long shot it is actually possible to bring one in.

However, I have heard that there are quite a number of chinese mom's in singapore who have followed to watch over their kids who are schooling here. They are working as mandarin teachers part time.

My questions are these:

1.) how much do you pay the language teacher?
2.) how do I get into their network to see if I can find a chinese person who may want to be a live in domestic helper (I am willing to pay up, their child can live with us, food etc covered and opportunity to follow us after our singapore posting).

At worse case I will try my luck with MOM and I have found an agency in China that can source someone but thought I may try (2) first.

Any other information, highly appreciated.

several of the helpers who work for chinese families speak conversational mandarin - perhaps you could search through an agency for previous chinese employers. just a thought.
