Hi Matmat,
There are plenty choirs in Singapore, but most of them aren't open to general public, e.g. university choir, church choir, etc. Other than those, you can try the Singapore Youth Choir http://www.syc.org.sg/

The Singapore Symphony Chorus (part of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra) http://www.symphonychorus.sg/

There's also the Amadeus Choral Society http://www.amadeus.org.sg/

If you're into opera you can try the Singapore Lyric Opera http://www.singaporeopera.com.sg/

Obviously you'll need to pass their auditions to be a singer in those groups. There are also a few other smaller community choirs. If you join any of the above you'll realise that many of them are also members of other choirs.

Thanks for the info! These choirs seem to be oriented to professional singers. Anything for non-professionals?

Choir

Hi Matmat,

Most of the singers in the choirs I mentioned have their own day jobs as students / bankers / office managers and are not professional singers, although the groups usually needs quite a commitment than other smaller groups as they perform regularly.

You can try looking at the directory here http://www.nac.gov.sg/choraldirectory/c ... munity.asp which includes general community, church, and language-specific choirs.

Good luck on your hunt and have fun singing!

Hi Matmat,

Ours is a non-professional choir preparing for a Christmas event, "Carols by Candlelight" in a park setting. You are more than welcome to join us. Our next rehearsal is 10:30am, Saturday, 15 Nov at Symphony Heights condo, Hume Drive (off Upper Bukit Timah Rd) - 2nd floor Function Room.

Hocklin :)
