I am looking for a responsible and result oriented Mandarin Tutors for my children. They didn't learn the language before. They need to build up the strong foundation for their Pr2 and Pr4 next year.

Is there any good recommendation?????

Mandarin at Home tutors

Post by Maria K » Wed, 22 Oct 2008 6:39 pm

Hello Everyone

We will be in Singapore from this weekend onwards.

Felix, our son, is an active 4.5 year old and would like to have a creative and talkative Mandarin tutor come and play with him at home, and at the same time introduce him to daily conversation and vocabulary suitable for a little boy.

He has been brought up bilingually English/German and with my Chinese dialect. He has had a Mandarin China au pair for one year so is not afraid of the language.

Can anyone recommend anyone? Easy going friendly students would also be welcomed. Does anyone know of a Kindergarten group I could take him to on a daily basis - we are only in S-Pore for two months...

Thank you to everyone for any helpful replies!

Yeah, you might wanna look for a teacher with a unique style of teaching, otherwise, the lessons might get really boring. Or worst, your child might lose interest in the language.

Just tryin to help,
Danni (:

Hello,

Maybe you would like to check out DJH Chinese Courses. They have Mandarin Courses for Children. The teachers are trained in childhood education as well. Lessons are conducted in a play group setting, so there will be no stress for the children.

Check out the website. www.djhchinese.com

--from the website, it looks fun, play-based and appropriate for kids with little or no prior knowledge of mandarin.

little mandarins

Post by thesicks13 » Thu, 30 Oct 2008 10:59 pm

we thought about enrolling our daughter at little mandarins. we called and had to leave messages a number of times. No return of call. AFter sometime we did speak to a lady who completely put us off. We asked to come and look at their facilities, and were told you can look from outside! Ok so maybe misunderstood....so we ask whether we can have a trial lesson with our little one. "No trials".

So how do we know what you do, whether it is appropriate, whether our daughter will be safe, comfortable, let alone us?

Given a simple answer. No trials, you pay deposit, kid on waiting list, kid accpeted, you pay terms fees, kid comes...likes or does not.

Last bit not in those words...obviously

we never went and are now getting a group of kids together with a private, fun kindergarten teacher for a couple of afternoons a week.

Mandarin for kids

Post by Blushbaby » Tue, 10 Feb 2009 1:09 am

Check out Bibinogs Play Learning for kids Mandarin classes...website is www.bibinogs.com / tel is 64668015.

My daughter's friend from school was learning Mandarin there and recommended us. It's in Serene Centre at Farrer Road. My daughter who is 3 yrs old, took a trial class, and loved it. So we signed her up for twice a week classes. It's a very interactive and fun approach in teaching young kids Mandarin. My daughter could speak simple conversational mandarin and recognised her own name in chinese characters now. And she can't stop speaking and singing in Mandarin after she comes back from her classes there... something we've been hoping to achieve for a long time from her preschool Mandarin lessons but never happened until she attended Bibinogs.

I like the small class setting...max is only 8 per class with two teachers. I know many expats sent their kids there for Mandarin too... Hope this helps.

:D Hi,

My kids attend Bibinogs at Serene Centre too . We lived just down the road, and I do find them to be pretty good with the Mandarin program. My 3 year old loves it there. They teach using pretty interactive methods for this age group, and I saw how lesson was conducted, the kids were very much involved during the program. My 10 month old attend the bilingual playground class there too. They are popular with the expats indeed.

We tried Little Mandarin at Dempsey before this, didn't get much out of it. I would recommend Bibinogs for Mandarin for very young children for sure. I sent them an email at [email protected] and they responded pretty quickly.

I saw this posting last month about Bibinogs and called them about Mandarin classes for my two sons. I found out that their Mandarin classes are multi-age groupings, so both my sons (2yrs & 3.5yrs) can be in the same class together, which was great for me.

They have been attending the classes there for 3 weeks now and are still loving it. Must agree that their teaching method is very fun indeed. My sons look forward to going for the classes and they are always speaking and singing something in Mandarin after that.

Would definitely recommend them for those looking for similar play based Mandarin classes. Am glad we found them....my kids were not as enthusiastic with the other Mandarin school we tried before, especially my younger son...

susanhewitt, that's very interesting considering your ISP is somewhere in Kansas. Is there something you are not telling us? (Or are you Dorothy from the yellow brick road?)

blushbaby and Pat Constanza. Sure looks funny seeing both of you with new first posts dragging up a two month old thread and recommending with great detail the same tutor. From the exact same IP address no less........ I believe you are a couple (actually the same poster) of the new breed of spammer.

tic.....toc.....tic.....toc......tic....... Yep, we're watching...... and waiting......

So dear Readers, take the above three posters with a large grain of salt. As I would bet that they are not what they seem to be. For that matter, almost all the posts in this thread are self solicitation and not recommendations (there is a big difference in solicitation for personal gain and recommending someone that you have personally used with satisfaction.

Thanks moderator! I guess I'll still look at them but now Berries have moved up my shortlist!

Anyone goes there?
