Jarrod - where's the store? If it's near one of my travels I'm happy to help out, as I am back in SYD in DEC on business/pleasure/beer/cheap wine (!) so we can organise to get the to you from there. Mr. P

Hi Jarrod,

If the seller is boyle3108 It would appear that he will use PayPal as well and do international shipping.

If the seller is yaihoo999 is appear that he will accept cashier's cheque or Money Order and also does international shipping.

Why don't you set up a PayPal account. (I do considerable shopping via eBay's US site and occasionally the Sg site)

Pete,

It's usually not a brick & mortar store but home based unless it's a local toy shop that's trying the online method for more reach. I looked for a brick & mortar location for both of the above sellers but couldn't find one.

SMS - yeh figured that, but if his place is on the way to somewhere I need to go then always happy to drop in and pick it up, either that or organise the seller to drop it in here and I'll pay him COD etc. Saves Jarrod on the shipping too as we're deploying back for a week in DEC and then Jarrod can buy me fine Australian wine and beer for all my trouble :P

Hi Guys,

No its neither of those sellers. It's just a private individual who has these items. He has pulled them from the auction so I can 'buy' them. I have tried the online payment options with him but he says no he only does COD due to prior experience. I have a paypal account and I have bought several of my collection from Canada (as they and Australasia get the same items) but no luck with this seller.

So other than flying there myself I have no way of supplying him COD. I have even suggested wiring the money to a Western Union office so all he has to do is go there and pick up the money 'COD' in a sense but still no luck. I don't know why as I'm the one taking all the risk? I have tried to determine the best that I can that the items are correct but I could easily be ripped off here. I have had him send photos of them so I can see that they are right and they seem to be. Other than that? :???:

I've tried to find someone who I know there or someone who is going there and my friend said maybe in a few weeks but its a maybe. That may be my only option.

I have been looking for these two items for ever and had given up on them, they pretty much dont exist anywhere here in Oz or Canada anymore. So I have been trawling thru asian stores and couldn't believe I found them finally! Both from the same seller too. Then only to find I have no way of buying them...AHHHHHH!

Last night I wondered if there was a way of finding someone in Singapore who could help. But how? So I looked up Aussies and expats in Singapore and found this site. I know its silly but I thought maybe someone might be able to be my feet on the ground so to speak. All I'd need is someone willing for me to send them the money and the seller has told me he will bring the toys to wherever needed for COD. Then pack them and post them to me. I'd pay for everything and could even help the person doing this for me somehow? I don't know, ship them something they miss from home and can't get there?

Sierra-

Hi and thanks for the assistance. The seller (Gary) has told me the following, "I would prefer to either deal at Sembawang or Tanjong Pagar MRT stations. However, I'm open to a mutually convenient location"

The cost of the items is S$50 which is about the same in Aus$. I can happily transfer the money if there is a method.

I'd also pay for whatever the shipping cost is, if that was needed. I'd prefer them to travel in a way that avoids people treading on them and wrecking the packaging :( and wouldnt want to trouble anyone too much with having to transport them. But I do appreciate that offer.

Anyway, if someone wants to PM me I can give u my details etc and any other info and work it out from there.

EDIT: Fine Aussie wine and beer sure thing if that's what it takes!

Thanks very much!

Jarrod.

Hey there guys, just had a question for ozzimum - how did it work out for you - just because we are in a very similar situation - coming from Aus in late July, hubby working near Tanjong Pagar and want to live close to MRT but not too expensive!! We have 2 little ones who will be 2 (may well leave on his birthday) and 7 months. Looking forward to the move and have found this forum invaluable in it's advice. As an aside, the removalists told me not to bring wine, or if I did, to limit it to a case - I said to the guy - are you serious? I think they think the paperwork is all a bit hard but we will definitely be shipping over a few cases - my biggest concern is storage once we get there, so will have to give myself some limits I guess! Anyway, would love to hear how you got on ozzimum. Cheers, Jo.

Thanks for your message Dan - we are actually ok with removalists (this is being organised for us).

Cheers,

Jo

Good idea to move mortgage to singapore..?

Post by June Eleanna » Mon, 18 May 2009 11:11 pm

hi all..
hope u had settled down well so far. Had a couple of friends who just relocated from melbourne to singapore and loving it here!

Anyone thinks it's a good idea to bring over mortgage from Oz to singapore? sgd interest rates are way cheaper..

Depends on the location of the property, existing loan to value, etc.
