Hi there

I ad my twins at NUH and cannot rave enough about the hospital. Definately the best hospital I have been to in the world and I have seen quite a few. Since the boys were born 3 years ago I have had all their paediatrics done at the hospital and their A&E is amazing. I had a hernia operation and a tummy tuck whilst they were at it... and chose NUH for the operation.

Absolutely brilliant. Ask for the deluxe suite it is amazing

I had mine in NUH too.
Great doctor, great nurses, great facility.
The A1 room is so spacious.
I have requested to be transfered to Deluxe Suite on day 2. The Deluxe suite is superb.

Hmm.. perhaps that section of the hospital is or was better.. i was sent in an ambulance there a few months ago due to stomach pain n i was just plain amazed at the rudeness of the A&E staff specifically the nurses.. i was in pain, hair soaking wet with sweat, so weak i was not quite able to speak? n the nurse shouted at me "Aye!! If you cant tell me what is wrong with you how you want to treat you?" i was gasping in pain n couldnt reply.. she told me to get up so she could take my temperature n i was struggling to pull myself up? she just stood there n watched.. when i was finally discharged hours later (for which i could not wait) i was still pale n weak n panting? only the receptionist/ admin person actually asked me if i was ok cos she saw me struggling big time to get out of the bed and into the wheelchair..
I am not alone, have heard a few other horror stories as well.. now my conclusion is if i ever get into an ambulance again, i am going to insist on going to another hospital even though NUH is nearest to my place.
Perhaps you would have a better experience than i did..

Wow, TSJ you did get shoddy treatment. Bu I have to vote FOR NUH as well. My daughter had an uncontrolled nosebleed just two months after we arrived. I called 995 and the ambulance was there in less than 3 minutes. When we arrived at NUH emergency they called the on-staff paediatrician who came and saw us 10-15 minutes after arriving (I think they were worried it was Dengue!). The reception/payment folks were all amazing since I didn't have her i-medicare card. They even found a toothbrush so she could brush and rinse her mouth.

I also had a very successful meniscus (knee) surgery in Feb. The A1 room is AMAZING! I had two on-call nurses and the food was even good. My dr. even gave me a cd of the surgery with photos--gross but cool.

I'm a HUGE fan, and hope to be one of the lucky ones to give birth at NUH too.

My British girlfriend has had all 3 of her children there and raves about it! If I lived closer (I am on the East Coast) I would have definitely gone to NUH, especially since my 4 year old son is a regular patient there. There is a lot to be said about the big public hospitals like NUH and KK (where my second child was born - also fantastic).
Proud to be Australian!

Interesting experiences related to a question about childbirth...

we are expecting to have our second there some time in the next three weeks. a number of our friends have been there 2 or 3 times (to give birth not to go to A&E) and one 4 times already! that's good enough for us.

Bonus point...parking there has to the best in SG...if you are about to "burst" Valet park for $4!

If you are about to burst dump the car at thefront door of A&E throw the keys to the security man at the front and quickly waddle in
