where to get gel nails done??

Post by cheekymama » Sat, 27 Sep 2008 5:27 am

hi all

I am almost close to my weding day and I have horried nails and cuticle. Guess I am kinda lazy and a bit too tomboy so my mani's never last more than a day before it gets ruined. Doesn't help that i have young kis to care for with cooking, cleaning , etc.

I heat that gel nails are much beter for you natural nail than acrylic ones... is that right? and how often do you need to refill as your nails grow or they get chipped...

any recommenations anyone? cheers

Hi Cheekymama,

Yes, gel nails last longer than acrylic ones & are less harmful on our nails too ! Though I havent tried that yet, I've seen my aunt's and friends' , it looked very nice & natural & lasted very long too.

Hope the info helps & Congrats on ur wedding day !

I have been upkeeping gel nails for the past 3 yrs.

Words of advice -

Once you use gel or acrylic, pls bear in mind it is a commitment you have taken up.

I have many friends tt were appealed by the novelty of gel nails, rushed to get them done & later didnt want to commit to monthly expenditure of maintaining their nails, thus removed them & they regretted BIG TIME.

Reason is that once you use gel or acrylic, be prepared that ur natural nails will weaken quite abit! So its best that u stick to this mthly regime if you decided to have them on your nails in the 1st place.

Expect to go back for an infill every mth (approx 4 weeks). Some salons will tell you to go back every 2 weeks but for me, I dont think its necessary at 2 weeks since I can still accept the growth gap at 2 weeks.

gel is definitely less harmful on your natural nails.

if the gel infill was done correctly, it should not chipped or lift (gel lifting up from the sides) with light housework. at one month, your gel nails should stay intact & firm. & with gel, your nails should be very hard & sturdy, not prone to breaking at all (with normal activities).

however if you do alot of housework or in contact with water constantly - its risky to do gel nails as the gel is more prone to lifting.

HTH!

I currently do my gel nails at IPUTA, far east plaza. They offer soft & hard gel. Prices are also quite reasonable.
