Learn how to surf

Post by Dutchess36 » Sat, 20 Sep 2008 1:01 am

Hi! Can someone tell me what the best place is to get surflessons? And how to go about organising it?! I am an absolute beginner and Chinese See or some of the straits sounds more appealing to me then the cold Dutch North Sea.

If there are more people out there that would like to take up surfing then maybe we can team up one of the weekends?!

Thanks very much! Maura

you can't surf in singapore but you can consider windsurfing perhaps. over at east coast sea sports club. just take up the basic certification and rent or buy some second hand gear. been going since 2004 but i haven't gone down for awhile. (vain reasons like freckles).

or others like cable skiing, etc. batam has it cheap and calm, easier for beginners compared to the east coast cable ski ring. www.cable-ski.com i usually spend the whole day there since there's ferry commute. quite a few teens too. consider making it a bonding session with your tweens/teens. haven't been down for awhile though.

nice one about the malaysia trip. could consider that for my next weekend trip.

to touch more water, you could also take a weekend trip to pulau redang, etc.

have fun!
(i realise my post seemed rather off topic but for breadth.)

I never heard of Desaru as a surfing destination. But if it's a good surfing place during moonson, all the better!

Could you tell us more about the wave conditions in late Oct/Nov?
And what kind of surf boards do you have for rent over there?

I'm very interested. Please drop me a PM with your phone number if possible.

Thanks!

Hi people, I am planning with my girlfriend to go to Desaru or Cherating for the next long week-end (24th to the 27th of October) in order to see if it is possible to learn surfing there...Anybody interested ? PM me thanx.
