looking for a good car mechanic

Post by doogie » Thu, 18 Sep 2008 6:13 pm

I have a simple mid 90's japanese car and am looking for a reliable workshop for straightforward servicing. I know enough about old cars but no time/interest to do the basics myself, and just want a mechanic that follows requests and carries out the work at a reasonable cost. Prefer west coast area/queenstown, rather than east side. any recommendations appreciated. thanks.

Hi,

I suggest GSC Auto. They are at:

Sin Ming Autocare, #02-04, 176 Sin Ming Drive
Singapore 575721

Very professional, at reasonable prices. They even call a few weeks later, to make sure everything works. I especially like that they don't start finding other problems to fix; if there's any other issue they just inform you and that's it.

If it's mid '90's the second COE should be about to be over already and time for the scrap heap unless the 2nd COE was for 10 years and not 5? Of course, if your COE was done at the right time while the prevailing average was down, it would make sense to milk it for all it's worth I guess.

Maybe give Autobacs a go, in Bukit Batok or, as strange as it sounds, Stamford Tyres. Each have general service about $80-90.

I've used a guy at the corner of Jln Bukit Merah and Alexandra Road. Good, honest service, and a reasonable price. PM me for details. Has handled by Honda Civic... now deceased due to COE expiration... but he will get to handle my 'new' Nissan.
