We are moving to London around mid-october and have been allocated an amount of GBP8000 for removal costs and shipping. We have a 6-bedroom house full of large furniture items, none of which we are wantng to part with. Has anyone ever shipped back to the UK? Any idea how much it cost? How long did it take for furniture to arrive in the new country? We need to rent furniture in the UK until our own arrives, so we need to have an idea of what sort of timeframe we need.
Proud to be Australian!

Our friends just did a similar move. Transit time was about 4 weeks. They moved from a 3 bedroom house here (filled with lots of antiques that needed proper crating) and they ended up needing two 40ft containers. They're whole move cost more like GBP 10,000. including packing/unpacking.

On the other hand ours took 3 weeks door to door from the UK! Our shipping to Dubai took 10 weeks but we hit Ramadan which caused delays in Dubai.

The time will also depend on whether you have a full container or shared.

It caught me out, I was just getting used to the white plastic garden furniture in the living room

I think it was all timing I checked the packing itinery and our ship left the Uk 2 days after packing so that helped I also used a small independant local company for the first time and was impressed and delighted at what they quoted

Just over half of what we paid to get the same size container back from Dubai with one of the 'big' companies.

We had a 20ft container all by ourselves paid for by his Co. so no sharing. Sharing does take long as they need to find someone to take up the space.
