Adoptive parents-to-be seek guidance

Post by cantila » Mon, 08 Sep 2008 9:25 pm

Hi,

My husband and I are Australian citizens living in Singapore. We are looking to adopt a child - most likely from Cambodia. We've met with our embassy and SACAC and understand the process.

We are now looking for orphanages to adopt from in Cambodia.

Can anyone recommend an orphanage?

Or does anyone have any guidance at all?

Cheers

Wendy

suggest you might like to join the Aussie expat adoption yahoo forum also - there is alot of info regarding what you need to do, and there seems to be alot of info about Cambodian adoptions. If you are able to PM me, I can give you the link to the site otherwise do a yahoo google search, hopefully it will work.

We have 2 adopted boys from Korea - it is the best thing we have ever done, and are hoping to do it again once we have fulfilled the 12 month overseas requirement.

Rgds,

I recommend that you speak to the Australian Embassy in Cambodia. The Australian Embassy in Cambodia are on the ground and they will ultimately process the paperwork. FYI I've heard from a few Australian couples who have adopted from Cambodia that the advice given by the Australian Embassy in Cambodia is different from the advice they were given by the Australian High Commission in Singapore so it would be worth giving Cambodia a call. All the best.
