tiny Q...

Post by cri8ion » Sun, 07 Sep 2008 2:46 pm

If I am approved of a Singapore PR status, is it compulsory to settle down in Singapore? Or could I continue working at my current place/country of residence? What are the norms?

Thanks guys!

Or could I continue working at my current place/country of residence? What are the norms? Yes you can work at your home country but you'll need to come to Singapore else the SPR won't be of any use..

Few conditions applies here..like your duration of stay (abroad)...and so on

Thanks guys!

To really answer your question, you first must understand how PR works. Firstly, it means permanent residence. Do you know the meaning of the term?

If you are not resident here (working here) then at the end of 5 years when you have to renew your re-entry permit and cannot show Singapore tax returns required for the renewal, the game will be up. If you stay out for 4 years and only come back for the last year, you will still be up the creek without a paddle as they require the last three years tax returns for renewal.

Thirdly, if you are not planning on living in Singapore, why get PR?
SOME PEOPLE TRY TO TURN BACK THEIR ODOMETERS. NOT ME. I WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW WHY I LOOK THIS WAY. I'VE TRAVELED A LONG WAY, AND SOME OF THE ROADS WEREN'T PAVED. ~ Will Rogers
