Very Frustrated

Heres the deal. I am trying to get an apartment. I would really prefer to have my own as opposed to sharing rooms with people. My budget I figure is about $1200. I work in the east coast (Fort Road area) so is this impossible? I hear "YES" I hear "NO". Also, do I really have to fork over agents fees+3 months deposit+One month advance? whats the custom here? Does anyone know if there is an 18 month waiting period for SHift? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Even SHiFT will cost you a minimum of 1400/mo. And those are in outlying areas. There were two coming up for lease in September but it looks like they are now gone as well - this at 28 Aug 08....(one was in Choa Chu Kang @ 1500/mo and one in Marsiling at 1600/mo) You will notice in the Code window below that all prices are "From".... I stand corrected on my comment about the 18 month waiting period for SHiFT housing. It was the HDB rentals for needy Singaporeans that had an 18 month backlog. My apologies. The SHiFT program just has to be monitored as it is only when one is not renewed that it becomes available.
