Consider that Singapore banks also pay an interest of what, 0.5%? on your savings. Compare that to the 4-7% offered by Australian banks.

Property is also significantly costlier in Singapore than Australia where half a mil can get you a pretty snazzy apartment or even a nice house whereas it will barely get you a HDB flat here.

Once you've sorted their Premier system they are OK, but not great. One of their few saving graces is fee free international transfers. We've been told that Global View (where you can see all your holdings with HSBC globally) is to be upgraded so you don't have to dart in and out of each country's system to do transfers. That will help.
