OFS is an "International' School and doesn't follow the system of any nation. It uses the IB www.ibo.org as its curriculum from Primary through to High School. IB is good if you move a lot as the kids can move in and out of different IB schools without to many problems with curriculum differences (mine have to move from IB in Japan to IB in Singapore).

Though my kids are British as there is no British school near my home in Japan they went IB, I may get difficulties in future though if I return to the UK and they have to go back into the British National Curriculum as they will have been out for so long (one has never been to school in the UK).

IB Primary Years Program (PYP) is great my kids have been doing it for 3 years at their school and love it, I'm trying to find an IB school in Singapore and have been told United World College have a two year waiting list I'm not sure about OFS. I'm keen to know what ISS's campus is like if anyone knows.

We're from the US and I have a 3rd grader and one in Pre-K at OFS...I agree with the above poster about the International School Curriculum...it seems like the teachers have the curriculum structured to suit the students' needs and are currently assessing the students to see where they are in terms of skill level...school just started here 8-11-08...
My sons both seem very happy with their teachers, classmates, etc...I on the other hand feel like the administration is disorganized and that the school is over-crowded...you would think that with all the money that people pour into the place they could update the facilities...it's very run-down...but, a nice-looking school isn't really what matters...
Anyway, I think the learning / teaching ability is there...So far so good. I'm not sure what grade you are inquiring about but I don't know of a waitlist for elementary...best thing is to call or e-mail...Good Luck.
FYI - SAS (Singapore American School) definitely has a waitlist...it was our first pick, OFS was 2nd...but now that we're here it's probably the best choice since some of the other schools are quite far from our home and OFS is close.
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?
