Where is a REALLY GOOD place to find a maid / helper?

Post by bebe le chotchkey » Wed, 20 Aug 2008 12:40 pm

Everyone keeps saying to go to an agency...but which one(s)...there are a lot of agencies in Singapore...I will start working soon and will need someone to help get my kids ready for school and on the bus, and tidy up while I'm at work then get the kids from the bus and keep them busy until I get home...I have room for a live-in...but would also be ok with part-time...what to do?

Oh, and I did contact some agencies but they want me to pick someone out from looking at a picture...that might work at a restaurant but not for picking the person to take care of my precious kids...Anyone know what to do about this?
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about?

Have you tried using the search function at the upper left top of the page just under the profile link? {Maid Agency} works a treat. Be sure to tick "find all the words" and also tick "find posts". You can also check out the various links in my links page below.

try these maid agencies. maid agencies usually runs on bio-date which is sort of a 'biography' of a maid. You may request for helper that has experience in caring for children.

Try these maid agencies visit their website or just give them a call.

3. http://www.nation.com.sg/ (I got my home helper from here. Not bad at all.)

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we used an agency called ADP. We found them on the netmaid.com portal. That portal allows one to specify, in order of importance, what one is seeking in a helper. We put child care as our number one priority, and several helpers came up from different agencies, one of those being ADP. ADP sent us biodata on 5 additional helpers who listed child care as their number one preferred responsibility. We chose 3 of those to interview in person. The helpers came to our condo for an interview. We chose the one we thought best suited our needs, and she started two weeks ago. I couldn't be happier with her performance. She gets along fabulously with my 5 year old, she speaks and reads English, and she takes care of the house brilliantly. The entire process, from first phone call to my helper starting, took about two weeks. It helps if you take the class required by the government before you start interviewing helpers.

The boards at various clubs like the British Club, American Club, etc. are the best places. Plus, the International Schools have newsletters where current employers post ads to place their maids when it's time for them to repatriate home. I've found those are the best places to find maids with good references. You may just need to find members of those clubs or schools to look up the current ads for you.

Good luck!

Try Super Employment Agency in Far East Shopping Centre, we have used them twice and have recommended them to many friends.

Good luck
