………… it has been a long time since I cast pearls from my keyboard onto this forum and I have been meaning to do so since I heard the news at the end of April that Humphrey Lyttleton had passed away. A combination of work, family commitments and indolence have conspired to delay this posting, in particular a well earned break in Singapore about which I would like to inform you today.
But first, for those of you not lucky enough to have been born British (and for those who are lucky but ignoble), Humphrey Lyttleton was arguably the country’s finest ever jazz trumpeter (and you would have to argue with Satchmo no less) as well as a brilliant comedic performer as chairman of the peerless radio comedy show “I’m Sorry, I Haven’t A Clue”
