Internet - how and who?

Post by smurra85 » Sun, 17 Aug 2008 11:01 am

Hey everyone - currently staying in an HDB in Outram. Have got a contract for one year with the National Eye Centre and perhaps staying longer - everything is going great but the lack of regular, uninterupted internet is killing me! So anyone any advice on who is the best provider, what I need to provide etc etc and I'm I going to be robbed blind because I am getting a contract for one year instead of two as everyone is telling me - though no-one can tell me my options :?

there's only 3 (wired) broadband provider, starhub, singtel and pacnet. they all do 1 year contract. no one is gonna rob you blind. one year contract will always cost more than 2 years.

most provider will have promotion, so you will have to compare them yourself and decide which is best for you.

I applied for M1 Fixed bband at Comex 10 Mbps@43$

So far so (quite) good..everyone is complaining about it (Singapore-style..) but I'm quite happy for my needs

I chose this becoz I didn't have phone landline at home but cable tv ready otherwise I would have chosen Singnet adsl

In singapore one of the best cost to speed would be Singnet ADSL broadband.

Its relatively cheaper and offers constant speed over starhub's Cable Broadband. Starhub is known to be non-consistence with speed and could slow to a crawl during peak hours.

M1 Broadband is basically using starhub's network, just that under a different name.

Check out singnet plans here.

If you are just using for surfing, the 1MB plan is fast enough, we recommend most of our clients to use this plan as well.

Speed on surfing mostly depends on the computer and software Operating system, not entirely to the speed of the broadband service.
