Relocation - cost of living, social life etc

Post by rocker_always » Fri, 15 Aug 2008 5:29 pm

Hi all,

I'm a single man from India (New Delhi) and have been offered a job with a global investment bank in their technlogy division. They've offered me a salary of ~ SGD 75K. Just wanted answers to a few questions below, if anyone would be kind enough to answer?

1. How costly is decent accomodation? I'm not looking for a very fancy apartment and am willing to share it with others. Also, would prefer one that is not more than 30-35 minutes by MRT to the main financial centre.

2. How's the social scene? Clubs, pubs/bars/restaurants, sports facilities? Activities to engage in over the weeknds? I don't dine out and drink too often and heavily but like an occsional one every now and then...

3. How much would I have to shell out on utilities/groceries, cell phone/internet/Cable TV bills, transport (MRT mostly) etc?

4. What are the taxes like for the salary bracket above? Are there other taxes apart fom income tax?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

We tend to try to help those who first try to help themselves. Durain has given you the best advice. If after reading a goodly number of the related threads, you should have specifics to ask that you couldn't already find the answer to, then ask and we will be glad to try to find a answer for you. Otherwise, we tend to wonder just what kind of "talent" Singapore is trying to import?
