School for kids

Post by newbie2sg » Fri, 15 Aug 2008 12:05 pm

I read many messages that mentioned the International School has a long waiting list. What is the alternative school? I will start to work in Sing around Oct-Nov. My family will arrive shortly after that. Any suggestion, please. I am from US.

You should contact the schools you prefer (plenty of details online) to get an idea of actual waiting list lengths, there is a big difference depending on the year your children need to enter, obviously Year 1, Year 7 and Year 12 usually have a longer list (well for IB and British curriculums) than mid exam years.
Once you have an idea its worth making the application and then choosing a transitional option - which often means a less sought after school or maybe a very new one that has just opened, or home tutoring in the meantime.
Good Luck.

not all International Schools has a long waiting list. first of all, you need to decide where you want to live, then decide on which school. will also need to know you will be working. dont want to end up working in the east, living in the west and school is down south! it's a bit of a juggling act, but you will get there eventually...

I am from US. SAS has not said much about the waiting list, United said 2 years. The other said, register first then we will tell you. The package is not mentioned the allowance for home. pretty much open at this moment. I'll work in West area. Please advice which area I should choose. I will be in Sing about next week or week after next week. Where should I focus?
Thanks,
JNI
