6months stay in Singapore - flat needed!

Dear all,
I am soon moving to Singapore for 6 months and I am looking for a flat in the central area, possibly near the MTR. All the agencies deal with a min 1 year contract, so I am now in trouble in finding a flat for just 6 months. Could you give me any suggestions/tips? My budget is max $4,500 x month.

If you are coming here only for 6 months, are you planning to bring your family?

If you aren't married or even if you are, if it's only a 6 month contract I would leave your family at home and only rent a room in a condo or HDB flat for only around 800 ~ 1500/mo (HDB~Condo). This would save you considerable and would also make it easier to find a location.

The other option may be to find a condo that is going en bloc and they may be willing to rent on a month to month basis as the unit will be razed shortly to make way for the new building.
