urgent query.......USD in singapore....

Post by wassup » Wed, 13 Aug 2008 5:09 pm

can someone please advice me on this.....i am relocating to singapore this weekend and wanted to know if USD ca be used easily in singapore or do the shopkeepers only accept SGD....

the reason i am asking this is coz i can easily get USD from a friend but for SGD i will need to go to a bank and get ripped off....

if the shopkeepers readily accept USD then i shall bring USD instead of SGD :)

also what exchange rate do the shopkeepers give for USD

thanks a lot...

generally, a shopkeeper wont accept USD. a departmental store will but with terrible rates. you can easily take your USD to money changer for SGD. their rates is better than from the banks. money changer are everywhere in singapore.

for a rough guide, current interbank rate is US$1 = S$1.41.
