Business meeting etiquette - Creative/Arts sector

Post by digital12 » Wed, 30 Jul 2008 7:44 am

Hi all,

Going to be in Singapore for a week or two of meetings at the start of September and just wondering if anybody has any tips for meetings in Singapore?

Namely, in regards to issues of etiquette, dress code, etc.

I'm in the creative/arts/media sector and the meetings are in regards to film/tv production.

Super! So am I! let me know the outcome then.

If the creative industry in Singapore is any worth investigating, I MIGHT consider shifting base here.

No problem, socornyweaver.

Where are you currently based?

Do you have any tips for creative meetings in general?

For dress code, I think stick with monochrome colour is the safest. I will respect business meeting with people with suite, even though you know that Singapore is a warm country, generally office people are stay in freezing aircon. So long sleeve and thin jacket are well accepted. Be prepare that you could be exposed to 18 degree meeting room you wear short sleeve.

If you are into art/media production, you need to bring enough examples of the past cases to show and calibrate the local taste.
Some management here are still very conservative tolerance level of "creativity" might be limited. Some younger management are more willing to try new things.

Just my 2 cents worth of comment. From a marketer who sometimes deal with media vendors.
