"council" tax?

Post by Callalily » Mon, 28 Jul 2008 7:59 pm

Hello

Just wondering if there was such thing as council tax in Singapore as tenants. Apart from the usual household bills and air con maintenance, is there anything else.

Many Thanks

Lily :)

There is an annual property Tax which the legal owner of the property is liable to pay for. This should be already factored into the monthly agreed rental as well as any service charges. If the LL tries to add this on top of the agreed rental I'd walk away as it's probably a good indication of what the LL will be like in the future.

See this link for more info on property Tax in Singapore

http://www.iras.gov.sg/irasHome/page.aspx?id=3010

The owner is liable to pay.

I don't think there is any council tax.

You will find charges for water consumed (it's metered), a "wc" tax based on the number of bathrooms your place has and a rubbish collection charge are itemised and collected together with your electricity power bill.
