I understand Singapore to be a relatively safe city - have read a few threads -low crime doesn't mean no crime.
I am looking to move to SIN with 3 kids. 2 of which(hopefully) going to Australian Int Sch.
After reading a thread about poverty in SIN - can't quite find it now, of course, someone mentioned an area that is 'struggling'.
As this is my first time living OS with my family, I would really appreciate any words of wisdom about anywhere that might not be favourable. I have looked at bus connections to the school, I am thinking I would live nearby but this may not be an option. Although we are hopefully pretty well set up looking at rents between $7,000 and $9,000.
Thanks

If you are sending your kids to the new Aus School then most any condo in the area will be okay. There are only a few area that wouldn't be too cool but if you want to know the truth, most anywhere is not that bad here. With the kind of housing allowance you are talking about, you won't find them in those areas anyway. The Braddel, Bishan, Serangoon North areas are fine (I actually live in the Serangoon North Area myself)

My oldest friend teaches at the Australian Int'l School and she thinks it's a great place.
And having lived almost all my life in the Upper Serangoon area, I agree with SMS that Serangoon is a pretty good place to be in. If you're not going to be picky with appearances, we have some pretty good hawker centres around too.
Just avoid Geylang. They have great food (try the white pepper crab at No Signboard Seafood) but also the cheapest hotels and the red light district.
Bonne installation!
